According to the State Report on Human Trafficking, prepared by the Secretariat against Sexual Violence, Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons (SVET), based on information reported by the institutions that are part of the Interinstitutional Commission against Human Trafficking (CIT), from 2019 to April 2023, Guatemala has identified 2,428 children who are victims of human trafficking.

During 2022 specifically, of the 717 victims identified, 545 are minors, the majority of whom are girls of Guatemalan nationality, mainly affecting adolescents from 12 to 17 years old, while early childhood and childhood represent a smaller percentage.

The most common forms of trafficking are sexual exploitation and labor exploitation, followed by child pornography, the recruitment of minors for criminal groups, and begging.

Regarding ethnicity, the victims are first and foremost 'mestizas', secondly indigenous population and a small percentage were identified as ethnicities from other countries, such as Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador, because the victims were foreigners in Guatemala. In addition, cases of children with disabilities have been identified.

Durante el 2,022 específicamente, de las 717 víctimas identificadas, 545 son menores de edad, siendo en su mayoría niñas de nacionalidad guatemalteca, afectando principalmente a las y los adolescentes de 12 a 17 años, mientras que la primer infancia y niñez, representan un menor porcentaje.

Las modalidades más comunes de la trata son la explotación sexual y la explotación laboral, seguidas por la pornografía infantil, el reclutamiento de menores de edad para grupos delictivos y mendicidad.

Respecto a la etnia, las víctimas en primer lugar son mestizas, en segundo población indígena y un mínimo porcentaje se identificaron etnias de otros países, como Honduras, Nicaragua y El Salvador, por tratarse de víctimas extranjeras en Guatemala. Además, se han identificado casos de niñez con discapacidad.
